Pinterest Inspiration: DIY Halloween Spider Web in a Frame

I have to admit, I was never much into Halloween until my husband and kids came along. Husband loves Halloween and has passed that on to his children. You may remember how the three of them think it’s hilarious to scare the bejeezus out of me every Halloween.  {That hasn’t ended yet, by the way…Rat Bastard has been found in the dryer, the bread basket, and my make up bag since then. I’m about ready to check myself into the funny farm in case you’re wondering).I’ve really tried to step up my enthusiasm for the sake of the ungrateful crapheads precious darlings I call my own. When I saw this cute…

    Thred Up: A Review

Happy Monday, Loves! And a special shout out to all the new followers I’ve acquired over the last week! I realize the vast majority of you are here because of the giveaways I’ve sponsored and not because you actually think I’m the bees knees but that doesn’t mean you can’t stick around and become my new BFFs!  Okay, maybe being BFFs is a little premature. And even a little skeezy considering I sort of bought your friendship. But our questionable beginnings aside, I’m glad you’re here and I hope you stay just cause you want to and not cause I bribed you to. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. And not…

  • My Girl

Sugar and Spice and All Things….Crazy.

I used to say that my daughter was the perfect baby. She was. She barely cried, she was world champion breast feeder, she pretty much slept through the night by the time she was two months old.  As an infant she was nothing but pleasant. Jovial even.  As a toddler. A dream. None of that “terrible two” stuff for us.  And then she turned three. And she started asking lots of questions. And sometimes my answer to one of those questions was “No.” And then this started happening… All. The. Time. People told me that “three is the new two.” So, I rode it out and figured it would end…

  • It's Ok Thursday

    Time for It’s Okay Thursday!

It’s Okay Thursday!     I love Thursdays…partially because I work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays so Thursday = my Friday.  I also think I have a residual giddiness left over from college when Thursdays meant 1$ tap beer and wings and the official start of the weekend. You think that would have worn off by now what with me having graduated from college prior to the new millennium and all but apparently not.  Mostly, I love Thursdays because I get the chance to cathartically justify all the less than perfect aspects of my week. Love that. So, here we go…   It’s okay…That Husband got a new iPhone and we spent way too…

    My Weekend-The Cliff Notes Version

Hey guys, I’ve been trying to write a post for the last 30 minutes and I can’t get my brain to form a string of cohesive sentences.  The thing is, I’ve never wanted my bed more. So I’m offering you the cliff notes version of my weekend. Take it or leave it. (Sorry, I get bossy when I’m tired). 1. We carved pumpkins…the one I carved for Miss A kind of kicked ass. 2. We went home to me and Husband’s home town. 3. My sister in law and I went to a wine tasting. It was fun. 4.Immediately following the wine tasting, we met our husbands at a beer…

    Another High Five for Friday

Welcome to High Five for Friday!  This is my favorite time of the week, for sure. This week was all at once, exhausting, frustrating, frantic, as well as enlightening, and blessed.   I am finding myself heavy into the crazy that is raising two school aged kids. Soccer, ballet, church classes, snack leader, permission slips, homework checks, conferences, not to mention the stress of my own career, running this house, paying bills, doing laundry, making ordering dinner, and paying some attention to that guy I married a million years ago when life seemed much simpler… But I wouldn’t trade it for the world, I really wouldn’t. Here are some of…

    It’s Okay Thursday #2

It’s Okay Thursday! It’s okay that the news of my boyfriend Justin’s imminent marriage to Jessica Beil in Italy this weekend that’s been all over the airwaves today has gotten me a little down in the dumps.  I really thought we had something going between us…apparently not. It’s okay that I’m going to keep finding ways to squeeze that picture into my posts until I die. It’s okay that Husband has to work late tonight so the kids and I are eating Halloween shaped macaroni and cheese and pre-sliced Halloween sugar cookies for dinner It’s okay that I think a plus to my last name being kind of weird is that…

  • Liebster Award

    My First Liebster Award!

I’ve been nominated for my first Liebster Award! Melanie over at Now A Queen was sweet enough to nominate me..yay! {Thanks, Melanie!}  This is an award for blogs with 200 or less followers. It’s a way to say “keep up the great work” to each other! When you are nominated you post 10 random facts about yourself and answer 10 questions from the person who nominated you. Then pass the award onto 10 other bloggers you think deserve it. Coincidentally, I happened to list 10 random facts about myself in Tuesday’s post.   There’s a link if you’re interested. I’ll spare you all from enduring another self indulgent list. Okay, fine. The…

Significantly Less Than 25 Random Facts About Me

Who remembers the craze that swept Facebook a few years ago…25 Random Facts About Me? Back when people still used the Notes feature on Facebook. Are the kids still using Facebook Notes nowadays and I’ve just missed it? I don’t know. I’m old.  I’m old and I have crows feet and I’ve started saying things like, “I’m pushing 40” and no one corrects me. But that has nothing to do with anything. My point is…slowly…coming back to me…oh, yes! Facebook and 25 Random Facts About Me. I loved those posts! I loved reading them almost as much as I loved writing my own. Which sounds incredibly narcissistic I realize. But…

A Letter From an Annoying Peanut Allergy Mom

Recently, I was standing and chatting with a group of moms I didn’t know very well.  One of them was complaining that her child got stuck in “one of the peanut free classrooms” again that year. Looks of shared annoyance and eye rolling ensued among the group.  I smiled politely and then let them know that my child was one of those annoying “allergy kids” that couldn’t eat nuts. There was the obligatory back peddling and sheepish looks.  I was caught off guard and didn’t say all of the things I was thinking that day….I’ve regretted it ever since.  Here’s my way of fixing that…  Dear Eye Rolling Mom, I…
