Our New Normal

So, FUMC has been a bit quiet for the last week or so…I think I can actually hear crickets chirping. Sorry about that. Don’t feel bad, it’s me not you. We’ve been in a bit of a transition the last couple weeks what with the kids going back to school and me back to work and I’m just starting to settle into our new normal.
This time of year always tends to throw me for a loop. It’s not like I don’t know it’s coming but somehow the end of summer always seems to shock the hell out me. It’s like someone literally pulls the slip n slide right out from under me and suddenly I find myself standing in the school supplies aisle at Wal Mart wearing jeans and boots and sipping on a hot apple cider. It’s a bit discombobulating to say the least.
The good news is I have tons of posts to share with you. The bad news is they’re all in my head. Is it weird that I think to myself in bloggy prose? I was just working on a recipe that I hope to post for you soon and I was actually narrating my actions to myself as though I was writing to all of you. I think I might have even laughed out loud at my own hilariousness a couple times. Is that maybe something I should keep to myself? I thought so…
Aaaany who….
Some more good news:
I reduced my hours at work this year (I’m a school psychologist by the way, have we ever really spoken of this?) so I am now working only three days a week. This also means I have only one elementary school under my charge instead of two. Which hopefully means there will be far less bat shit in my crazy this school year.
I will be working Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with every Monday and Friday off. How freaking sweet is that? The best part of this whole deal is that Miss A is in 4K every morning which means that every Monday and Friday morning I get to be alone in my own house. With like, no one else here. It’s mind boggling.
This was me last Friday. I actually drank that entire mug of coffee before it got cold. I had no idea that was possible. Also, I went to the bathroom with the door shut and no one asked me to make them a sandwich while I was in there. These are the standards by which I judge happiness these days. I’m a simple girl, what can I say?
Here are the kiddos on their first big day back:
Mr. Second Grade and Miss 4K (4 year old half day kindergarten)
Seriously. When did he get so cool? What’s with the hands in the pockets, casual lean, messy hair, crooked smile thing he’s got going on?
Cutie. Patootie.
So that’s what’s been going on around here. I promise I’ll get back into the rhythm of life and our new normal ASAP and dazzle you with my silly little tidbits on a regular basis again.
I’m linking up with Molly at Still Being {Molly} and Carly at Lipgloss and Crayons for their regular #YOLO Monday link up!
Have a great week everyone!

Oh,I write blog posts in my head all the time! In fact, I yell at myself (in my head) to stop most nights because I can't sleep (if that makes any sort of sense). Happy for you about the job, etc. but more happy that you got to pee without interruption. It doesn't ever stop. My girls are teens and still yell at me when I'm in the bathroom. And speaking of kids – yours are ADORABLE! Brother has some serious swagger. Look out!
