High Five For Friday and NaBloPoMo November

It’s Friday, Loves! The day I like to recap the best parts of my week in High Five for Friday…shall we?
Trick or Treating was last Saturday in our little town…as always, it was so much fun! My sister, brother-in-law, and nephews came to spend the weekend with us which is always a blast.Chaotic and insane but a blast. Miss A was Rapunzel (a costume she’s had since our trip to Disney World last summer, yay for me!), Mr. Man went as Frankenstein, and my nephews were a Cowboy and a Baby Lion.
The best part about our neighborhood are the houses that serve “Adult Treats” along with the candy. Adult Treats = Jello Shots. It was like being in college again except we all have children to watch and mortgages to pay and no one’s costume started with the adjective “slutty”. Otherwise it was exactly the same.

While my sister was in town, she had her boys’ photos taken by our favorite photographer, Amy Hall. This chunk is my sister’s youngest…looking at this literally makes my ovaries ache and I can almost see myself having just one more. Almost. Seriously though, can you even stand it??
Amy’s been taking our kids’ pictures since they were babies and we adore her and her work. It’s been a while since we’ve gone and I’m making it my mission to book her this summer. It’s a big expense to be honest, but my kids aren’t getting any younger. I need to suck it up.
And what do you know…I just did a Google image search of myself (Shut up. You know you’ve done it) and this came up. This is a photo Amy took of me when I was preggo with Miss A. Husband calls it my preggo porn. I love having these though…I’ll never have those days back and I’m so happy they were captured.

If you live anywhere near the Southeastern Wisconsin or Chicagoland area, I highly recommend Amy. She specializes in maternity shots, babies, and kids but also does senior pictures, kids’ modeling portfolios, engagement shoots and has dabbled in wedding photography too! She’s sooooo talented! I’m all about polka dots lately and I’m loving these polka dot scarves that came this week from Simple Addiction. I snatched them up for $6.95 a piece!

We confirmed this week that Husband and I are going to New Orleans for the Super Bowl in February! Five days with no kids! I can’t even wrap my brain around that!
My brother in law, (the one who always generously sets us up with mad hook ups like this)got Husband a ticket to the game.
He and another good friend of ours is going and the wives are tagging along to experience NOLA! I’m so excited! I haven’t been there since I was 16…any suggestions for things we must see/do? We’ll be there Thursday through Monday of that week. Flying out of WI in the dead of winter is always sketchy at best…pray for no blizzards!

NaBloPoMo November 2012

Finally, I’ve decided to challenge myself and participate in BlogHer’s NaBloPoMo for the month of November. Essentially, it’s a challenge to blog every single day for the entire month. It’s going to be tough for me, but I’m going to try. One of the writing prompts BlogHer offered was “Share your favorite quotation.” (Actually, I believe that was supposed to be the prompt for yesterday so I’m already breaking the rules. That’s how I roll. Bad to the bone. That’s me.)

So, here is my favorite quote that I’d like to share with you.  I have this hanging in my office:

I love this. It’s a reminder for me that our perception of life can control our attitude and our level of happiness. You can weigh yourself down in the muck or choose to live in the light. It’s a conscious choice every single day. Good stuff.

So that’s it for me folks. FUMC, OUT! (Excuse me while I channel Seacrest, circa 2008).

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! Apparently, I’ll be back tomorrow to dazzle you with my witty words. I can’t wait to see what I’m going to write about! Your guess is as good as mine…
