    Bringing Back 25 Random Things About Me

    Who remembers when posting 25 Random Things About Me was all the rage on Facebook? If you don’t remember, it was this deliciously narcissistic exercise in self disclosure that was sort of irresistible. I loved reading 25 random facts about my Facebook friends almost as much as I loved writing my own list. Perhaps its popularity was because Facebook was still in its toddler years and we hadn’t all become the gross over-sharers we are now. Maybe it was back when Facebook limited your characters so we weren’t getting as much stuff off our collective chests as we would have liked. Who knows. At any rate, in the interest of getting reacquainted, I thought it would be fun…

    Filling Up My Cup {Again}

    Who takes a four year hiatus from blogging and then dares to try and return? Apparently, me.  Here goes nothing… Here’s the deal: I’m letting go of the pressure of having to apologize and explain myself to death. Henceforth, my plan is to just start writing about random/funny/interesting/weird stuff again and pretend that no time has passed. After this post, we’ll just do this dysfunctional family style and never speak of this again.  I’m going to assume that we are the kind of friends that can go years without seeing other and then pick up where they left off without missing a beat. We’re cool like that, right? Sweet.  …

    Hi. I’m Not Dead.

    Imagine, if you will, that I am sheepishly poking my head into the room and waving a small, embarrassed hello. Cause that’s what I’m doing in my head. So, let’s get the awkward explanations out of the way right off the bat. I was unexpectedly gone for a while.  A long while.  I’m not sure why, other than I tend to do that.  Fall off the face of the earth, that is.  Nothing horrible happened, my family is fine. I’m fine. We’re all fine.  I just needed a little break from blogging that I meant to last just through New Year’s and now, well, it’s freaking April. Oops. My bad.…

    Thanksgiving Recap

    Hey, Loves! Just wanted to let you know that I survived Stressgiving. And it turned out to not be so stressful in the end. Chaotic? Yes, but in a good way. It wouldn’t be a holiday with my family if it were anything less. We had a lovely time and ate some pretty yummy food {if I do say so myself}. The table…simple and lovely. My sister and Husband. He was hard at work carving the bird, I think she was a little drunk. She had just finished explaining to me that she was going for “Modern Pilgrim” with her outfit. Let’s just say it was a fun Thanksgiving… XOXO,

    A Classy Thanksgiving-The Reprise

      Hey Guys. So I’m a big cheater cheater pumpkin eater today. I’m reposting a post from November of last year. I figure I can get away with it since 99% of you were not FUMC readers at that time. Heck, I barely read this blog back then. Also, this is a great green bean casserole recipe and I thought you may like to have it before Thanksgiving this year. You’re welcome. xoxo,Jen  _______________   I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I hope all of you did too!  The best part of my holiday is pictured above…Oh, Mr. Man-please stay six forever… Unlike last year, I did not host 237 people at…

    My Weekend-The Cliff Notes Version

    Hey guys, I’ve been trying to write a post for the last 30 minutes and I can’t get my brain to form a string of cohesive sentences.  The thing is, I’ve never wanted my bed more. So I’m offering you the cliff notes version of my weekend. Take it or leave it. (Sorry, I get bossy when I’m tired). 1. We carved pumpkins…the one I carved for Miss A kind of kicked ass. 2. We went home to me and Husband’s home town. 3. My sister in law and I went to a wine tasting. It was fun. 4.Immediately following the wine tasting, we met our husbands at a beer…

    Appreciating Sangria…sans Chicken Tenders

    I’d like to offer a bit of unsolicited advice to my childless friends who are planning to someday embark on this crazy journey called parenthood…. Go out to eat.   Go all the time.  Get reservations at all the new, trendy restaurants you’ve been wanting to try and do it now.  And don’t you dare, for any reason whatsoever, walk into an Applebee’s or some other place like that that has children’s menus and keeps stockpiles of coloring sheets and crayons in the hostess stand. Some day Applebee’s is going to seem like  “a big night out” and there’s no reason to ruin that future excitement for yourself by wasting time…

    I’m Baaaaaak

    Hi.  It’s me.  I’m still here.  Rather then offer you lots of excuses/reasons both good and bad for my prolonged absence I thought I’d just quickly get you up to date on what’s been going on in my little world for the past…uh…seven months. (Has it really been that long? What the hell’s my problem?) After the recap, let’s just move on and never speak of this again, shall we? Agreed?  Okay, here we go… Last we spoke it was around Thanksgiving 2011.  I did not actually fall off of the face of the earth since then and here’s some photographic evidence to prove it… December 2011  Merry Christmas!!  Mr.…

    Memory Lane

    For the last couple years I’ve created an annual family photo book at Kodak Gallery.  The books are a lot of work to put together but I’m so glad I do it. They really turn out amazingly cool.  Our 2010 album arrived in the mail today (yes, I realize it’s nearly 2012, why do you ask?) and our family had so much fun pouring through it this evening. It’s unbelievable how much the kids have grown in nearly two years.  And how chubby their faces seemed to be in 2010.  Their 2011 faces are positively gaunt in comparison.  It’s absurd. When I put together the books, I try to make it a photo journal…

    Pieces of Me

    Have I ever mentioned time management is not one of my strengths?  Yeah, so…it’s not.  As you may have noticed, I’ve been struggling a bit to fit blogging into my crazy little life.  Which is actually ironic given that the purpose, as eluded to by the title, of this blog was to forge out a little something just for myself…looks like everyone else but me has been using up all the little pieces of me.  I’m here again to take a piece back. I have fallen off the “making myself a priority wagon” so to speak…I’m only human.  This past summer and early fall marked the longest time I’ve ever…
