    Supreme Pizza Pasta

Hello, Loves! This has been a busy week….sheesh. One of those weeks where I felt like I was constantly on the go without taking a breath. We had a potluck at Mr. Man’s school, a church thing last night, soccer, dance, a beer pong tournament, volunteer work, knitting, goat herding…it’s been insane to say the least. I may have made up a few of those things just to see if you were paying attention. But for reals, I’m exhausted. So, sorry for the less than frequent posting.  I know it’s hard to go more than 24 hours without my witty repartee but I hope you’ve all survived.  It’s been a…

Catching Up With High Five for Friday

I haven’t linked up with Lauren @ From My Grey Desk Blog in a while for High Five For Friday so let’s do that, shall we? 1.  Chocolate Chip Cookie S’mores-To Die For Have you seen this recipe floating around Pinterest?  I made them a couple weekends ago when we went up to yet another friend’s lake house for the weekend and they were a HUGE hit.  There were actually random people from around the lake coming over to try them.  Okay, fine.  They were random to me because I was a guest there and I’m sure said people were actual friends of our hosts- but still.  They were there…

Sinful Macaroni and Cheese With Bacon

If you happen to be a vegan, vegetarian, or just someone who is even remotely concerned about your overall health you may want to avert your eyes.  I promise though, that if you choose to peak through your fingers at this scrumptiousness, I won’t tell a soul… It’s been about a week since I’ve gone grocery shopping so supplies were running low around here last night.  It was one of those nights where I was combing through the cabinets trying desperately to come up with something to make for dinner.  There was a huge sale on cheese slices last week and I had a big stock of that so I decided to make homemade Mac and Cheese.  But then…I noticed…

A Chocolate Vanilla Layer Cake From Heaven

Mr. Man had the audacity to turn seven earlier this week.  I distinctly remember forbidding him to turn seven last year at this time (you can read about that here) and the little punk went ahead and did it anyway.  I didn’t cry this year…even though my inner Sappy Mama really wanted to what with all the reminders that my baby is gone and this big, stinky, opinionated kid is slowly replacing him that every birthday brings.   Instead, I focused my sentimental energies into creating the best birthday cake ever. Okay, maybe there have been prettier birthday cakes and technically superior birthday cakes but this one was definitely the tastiest…

    The Raspberry Tradition

It’s that time of year, again. Raspberries! Today was opening day of the raspberry picking season and the kiddos and I indulged in all the very berry goodness.  We did this last year as well which I thoroughly documented here if you would like to go back and read all about the early stages of my fruit picking obsession. I’m sorry to report that my enthusiasm for u pick fruit has not waned one bit since last year.  I will not bore you with the gratuitous berry shots this time around. I promise.   I would like to share a new raspberry recipe I found.  Yum!  First though, we need…

    A Classy Thanksgiving

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and I hope all of you did too!  The best part of my holiday is pictured above…Oh, Mr. Man-please stay six forever… Unlike last year, I did not host 237 people at our house. Instead we went to my in-law’s house which meant I had blissfully little responsibility around the whole event.  All I made was this, my favorite Thanksgiving side dish… It’s my version of Classy Green Bean Casserole found on my go to cooking website, Allrecipes.com  You read that right, it’s green bean casserole-only classy.  How great is that?  I feel like maybe Ron Burgundy submitted this recipe… It’s actually a really great version of green…

    Hamburger Noodle Pleaser

You know when you read through a recipe and you get to the very end and there’s a note about how that particular recipe would be just fantastic if you doubled it and froze one portion for “a later use”?  Yeah.  I often think to myself that that would be a wonderful and wonderfully practical idea but for some reason I rarely follow through with it.  Something about freezing main dishes and heating them up later just seems overwhelming to me.  I’m not sure why. Logically, I realize that makes no sense.  In the big scheme of life’s overwhelming tasks freezing half of a casserole probably rates very low.  But…

    Raspberries Everywhere

Monday was the opening day of U Pick Raspberries at a farm not far from home.  I took the kids to pick strawberries at the same farm last summer but we missed the short strawberry season this summer since I was in Boston at the time.  I have been anxiously awaiting raspberry season to get my U Pick fix for the year. I have an odd affection for picking my own fruit on other people’s farms.  I don’t try to understand it-it just is what it is.  There’s just something so rustic and homey about it.  My Martha tendencies get to shine through in all their glory.  Ahhhhhh….contentment.   I literally dragged my…

    Banana Berry Smoothies!

We are anxiously awaiting the start of the U Pick Strawberry Season here in Wisconsin…it’s gotten off to a slow start due to the unseasonably cool (and by cool I mean that I think a few days ago it actually got down to 40 degrees) spring we’ve been having.  Last year was my first experience with picking strawberries and I’ve been dreaming thinking about it ever since.  There’s a big farm not far from here that gives you a hay ride out to the fields and drops you off with your empty baskets and lets you go to town.  The kids loved it last year and I can’t wait to take…
