    High uh, ..Two for Friday

    I’ve got to be honest…I’m having some trouble coming up with five things to write about for High Five for Friday this week.  It’s not that this has been a horrible week and I have nothing good to say or anything.  It’s just been…I don’t know…just another week.  I’m feeling guilty like I’m being all glass half empty, not appreciating the small things and I just kicked a puppy or something.   I think that’s one of the weird tricks blogging can play on your mind. You can get yourself into this pattern of feeling like you have to find the funny, inspirational angle in every event in your life.  Like…

    Supreme Pizza Pasta

    Hello, Loves! This has been a busy week….sheesh. One of those weeks where I felt like I was constantly on the go without taking a breath. We had a potluck at Mr. Man’s school, a church thing last night, soccer, dance, a beer pong tournament, volunteer work, knitting, goat herding…it’s been insane to say the least. I may have made up a few of those things just to see if you were paying attention. But for reals, I’m exhausted. So, sorry for the less than frequent posting.  I know it’s hard to go more than 24 hours without my witty repartee but I hope you’ve all survived.  It’s been a…

    Loving Lately {I’m a Co-Host!}

                                                                    Happy Tuesday,Loves! Tuesday means it’s time for Loving Lately! This installment of Loving Lately is especially fantabulous since I’m one of the co-hosts! How cool is that? I know you’re just dying to know what I’m loving {lately} so here it is: I am loving my new navy and white striped jersey cotton dress from Old Navy!  I’m really loving it with gold opaque tights and Fall boots.  Mixing crazy colored tights with this dress would not have been something that would come naturally to me but I figured all you fashionista’s out there may actually have something that I don’t (like, I don’t know, fashion sense) so I…

    This is War

    Every October my family tries to kill me.  It’s true. It gets worse and worse every year. Let me back up…a little known fact about me is that I am absolutely terrified of mice and rats.  Especially rats. I find them to be the most vile, horrifying creatures on the planet. I once saw a sewer rat the size of a squirrel walking in the gutter in downtown Chicago at 2am and I was so frozen with terror I literally couldn’t walk or speak. It’s no joke. It’s a down right phobia. So, if you were the people that loved me the most in the world you would think your…

    High Five for Friday!

    It’s High Five for Friday Time! Some of my highs this week include:1.  Finally getting the chance to bust out the Kate Spade Sparkle clutch my mom gave me for my birthday a while ago. It’s so adorable! And so fun to have a little luxury item I would never buy for myself. I’m grateful to have a mama that gets that. 2. I love, love this photo of my mom and sister and I taken last weekend. These are two of the strongest, most beautiful women I know. Also, the craziest…in a good way {mostly}.  It runs in the family, what can I say. I heart them. 3. I’m just…

    It’s Ok Thursday-#1

    Joining another new Link Up today! It’s okay that my husband’s and my guilty pleasure is watching Tosh.O after the kids are in bed and we find it wildly hilarious even though neither of us fits the intended demographic of 18-24 year old males.  By a long shot.  Especially me..what with not ever having been male and all.  Let’s not even get into how long it’s been since I was 24. It’s okay that I can’t remember the last time that I scrubbed my kitchen floor but the dirt just blends into the grain of the hardwood so you can’t tell…much.  It’s okay that I hate conflict so much that…

    Appreciating Sangria…sans Chicken Tenders

    I’d like to offer a bit of unsolicited advice to my childless friends who are planning to someday embark on this crazy journey called parenthood…. Go out to eat.   Go all the time.  Get reservations at all the new, trendy restaurants you’ve been wanting to try and do it now.  And don’t you dare, for any reason whatsoever, walk into an Applebee’s or some other place like that that has children’s menus and keeps stockpiles of coloring sheets and crayons in the hostess stand. Some day Applebee’s is going to seem like  “a big night out” and there’s no reason to ruin that future excitement for yourself by wasting time…

    How I Became BFFs with Justin Timberlake

    Hello again, my lovelies.   I’m going to skip the part where I apologize for being gone for a week and cut right to the chase.   Here’s the short story: I’ve been in Chicago attending various events related to the Ryder Cup since Wednesday (For anyone who doesn’t follow golf, the Ryder Cup is a major PGA tournament in which the best of the best from the USA  compete in match play with the best of the best from Europe for the Ryder Cup trophy).  Here’s the bottom line: It’s time you knew… I’m best friends with Justin Timberlake.  My sister and I met him before the Ryder Cup Gala (a…

    Loving Lately: I Have a Thing for Gourds

    I’m all about gourds in the Fall. I love how they are all at once earthy and beautiful and weird.  I love decorating with them as soon as the air starts to get that little crispness in it.  Not only do they make a beautiful natural decoration but they’re a relatively cheap way to spruce up your decor and mark the change of seasons.   Needless to say, when I walked into the grocery store last week and saw a huge bin of them in all their freaky glory I was admittedly a bit giddy.  What can I say, I’m easy to please.   I grabbed up a bunch of the most interesting looking…

    Easy Peasy DIY Cake Platter

    Happy Monday, Dear Ones! {I’m not sure why I’m calling you “Dear Ones.” I just feels right.  Oddly grandmother-ish, but right just the same} I’ve been meaning to show off this easy peasy little Pinterest inspired DIY project I did a while ago. Here’s my  “Pinspiration” : This idea originally came from Jamie at Jamie Cooks It Up It’s two cheapo Target plates epoxied to an old candle stick to make a darling two tiered cake platter.  Brilliant, right? I love it when I see an adorable DIY project that doesn’t involve:  A. A sewing machine (the last time I used one was Home Ec class in 9th grade),  B.…
